Aurora & Astro
A Story written
in the Stars
On March 14th, 2026, a completely unhandled, feral (maybe wild) mare named Aurora was rescued from a livestock auction where she was at imminent risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. For horses like her—starving, wild, and untouched by humans—most people simply don't step in. She entered our care with a heartbreaking body condition score of just 1.5. Knowing her fragile state, Karma Ranch founder Noelle embarked on a grueling, around-the-clock foal watch that lasted for 89 straight nights, providing specialized nutrition and absolute quiet until Aurora finally felt safe enough to nest.
The long nights of waiting culminated in pure magic on June 13th at 1:00 AM, when Aurora brought a healthy, strong baby boy into the world: Astro. True to his feral genetics, Astro has quickly developed a brilliant, fearless, and budding personality, taking in the world with total confidence.
But the most miraculous part of Astro’s arrival is written in the stars. Astro was born a stunning buckskin Appaloosa—a beautiful, full-circle nod to the very beginning of Karma Ranch, which started with the rescue of our first buckskin, Jupiter. From the edge of the slaughter pipeline to a lifetime of safety, Aurora and Astro are living proof of what patience, choice-based love, and a true sanctuary can do.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No, Astro will never be available for adoption. Karma Ranch is a true equine sanctuary, which means every single horse that crosses our threshold—or is born within our doors—is safe for life. Furthermore, Astro and his mother, Aurora, will never be separated.
Too many horses slip through the cracks of the adoption system, and we refuse to ever wonder where our rescues ended up or if they fell into a bad situation again. We have chosen to keep our herd small and intentional so we can guarantee that every single resident stays safe, healthy, and deeply loved forever.

By purchasing from this collection, you aren't just buying merchandise—you are physically building a safe haven and providing the lifelong resources these horses need to thrive.

Sustainability means we care just as much about the planet as we do about the animals. We source our apparel using high-quality 100% organic cotton and recycled polyester, and we will always explicitly list the materials under each item.
To be fully transparent, sourcing organic materials means our garments are not always manufactured in the USA. Right now, countries like Bangladesh have the specialized manufacturing capabilities required to produce certified organic cotton at scale. In the future, our goal is to bring 100% of our sourcing and manufacturing directly to the US. For now, we partner with ethical, organic factories abroad, and every single item is printed on demand specifically for your order right here when you buy it.

Please remember: We are a horse sanctuary first. Noelle is out in the pastures doing heavy farm labor and caring for newborn foals, not running a massive corporate warehouse!
Because every single piece is custom printed on demand when you order, your items do not ship out the same day. Please give us some grace and leeway with delivery times. On average, it takes 2 to 3 weeks for an order to arrive at your door. For our global herd family in Australia and New Zealand, it can take up to 4 weeks. We promise the wait is entirely worth it the moment you open the package!

The vast majority of our herd family says their shirts fit perfectly and they absolutely love them! However, a handful of people have mentioned that they feel the cuts run a little small. If you are on the fence or worried about the fit, we highly suggest sizing up.
Because our premium shirts are made of 100% organic cotton, they do have a natural tendency to shrink slightly if exposed to high heat. Look at the tag for the care instructions, but here is a little pro-tip: if your shirt arrives and feels a little too roomy, you can always wash and dry it on hot to custom-shrink it to your perfect size. If it fits perfectly out of the box, stick to cold water and hang dry!

No, the sanctuary is currently closed to the public. Aurora is a feral, unhandled mare, and her protective instincts over Astro are incredibly high. For the safety of our horses and our visitors, we maintain a strictly private, quiet environment so Aurora can raise her baby with zero stress.
However, we will officially open to guests in 2027 once we are settled into our permanent location in Montana! Be sure to sign up for our email list to be the first to know when our visitor bookings open. We will also have exclusive visitor pre-bookings available as rewards during our Kickstarter launch on August 23rd!

We are completely at capacity and are not accepting any new horse surrenders or intakes at this time. Our herd size is meticulously balanced to ensure that every single resident receives top-tier, specialized care and lifelong security without overwhelming our infrastructure.
We will not be opening up for owner surrenders until 2027, after our move to Montana, and even then, we will be doing it very slowly. We are dedicated to keeping our sanctuary intentional and safe, and we refuse to ever overwhelm our land or our resources. Emails regarding surrenders or urgent intakes cannot be accommodated right now.

Because we utilize a custom print-on-demand system, production begins almost immediately after your order is placed. Please double-check your shipping address and size selection before hitting submit! If you notice a mistake, email us within 2 hours of your purchase. Once an item has entered production or shipped, we are completely unable to modify the address or change the size.
Please remember, you guys: we are a horse sanctuary first, not a major corporate retailer. Every single dollar from these sales is actively being used to feed the horses and secure our permanent land in Montana. Down the line, when we are fully established and have the space to hold a massive stockpile of physical inventory, we absolutely plan to accommodate standard returns and exchanges. But right now, because every item is custom-made to order, all sales are final and we cannot offer refunds.
Thank you so much for understanding and for helping us keep our focus entirely on the horses!

Noelle is unable to offer individual training advice, medical consultations, or behavior tips over email. While we love sharing our choice-based, safety-first philosophy through our video updates, every horse is an individual with unique needs and trauma histories. We highly recommend connecting with a local, qualified positive-reinforcement professional or equine veterinarian who can work with you and your horse safely in person.
